14 years ago, on a whim, I made the decision to go to culinary school. Not for work, but for knowledge! I feel like my time at Sullivan was different for me than I felt it was for most, that were there either because they had to be or because they planned their life to be working in that industry. It took me about three years to get a two-year degree because I was working two jobs and doing one class a week when I started. I had started a career in carpentry around the same time that I started culinary school. It was actually the same day that I took my Carpenter's test I was on my way home and just randomly stopped in Sullivan to see what I needed to do to be able to go to college. I did not wake up that day thinking that I was going to start school the next day! However, when I went in and spoke to someone and took my assessment test, I was told I could get my books that day and start class the next day! They were one week into the quarter. So, I did!. A week later I got my results from my Carpenters Apprenticeship test, which I passed. So I started doing that for work and whenever I would get laid off I would go work in a kitchen. I did that for about three years. Then I got hired at the brown Hotel during the layoffs and decided that that was going to be my last layoff and I stayed in the kitchens for the next seven or eight years. This story definitely does not stop here. I wore many hats in my days, to say the least! Schedule a dinner with me and I'll tell you the rest!
