"What is the Florida Scholarship Program"?
This program provides two different scholarships: the Florida Academic Scholarship (FAS) and the Florida Medallion Scholarship (FMS).
For the FAS, the minimum weighted GPA is 3.5, and the student is required to complete at least 100 hours of community service. The minimum SAT and ACT scores required are 1330 out of 1600, or 29 out of 36, respectively. If the student is able to meet these requirements, they will receive 100% tuition coverage for fall, spring, and summer semesters and applicable fees. An additional $300 is awarded for other college-related expenses in the Fall and Spring only.
For the FMS, the minimum weighted GPA is 3.0, and the student is required to complete at least 75 hours of community service. The minimum SAT and ACT scores required are 1210 out of 1600, or 25 out of 36, respectively. If the student is able to meet these requirements, they will receive 75% tuition coverage for fall, spring, and summer semesters and applicable fees.
FAS scholar’s award is calculated to be $212.28 per credit hour, while the FMS is $159.21 per credit hour. A minimum of 6 credit hours is necessary per semester to qualify, with a maximum of 120 semester hours covered.
