Different Types of Sewer Repairs There are many different types of sewer repair that a contractor may be called upon to perform. One of the most common is fixing a broken or collapsed sewer line. This type of repair requires excavating the damaged section of pipe and replacing it with new pipe. In some cases, the entire sewer line may need to be replaced. Another common type of sewer repair is fixing a blockage in the line. This can be caused by tree roots growing into the pipe, grease build-up, or debris such as condoms or sanitary napkins getting caught in the line. A contractor will use a high-pressure water jet to clean out the blockage and then make any necessary repairs. If there is a hole or crack in the sewer pipe, a contractor can sometimes fix this by lining the inside of the pipe with an epoxy resin. This will seal off the hole and prevent sewage from leaking out. In other cases, the entire pipe may need to be replaced.
