I was thinking of all of you this morning while planting a bed of spinach. We have been getting ready for the 2023 season here at DJ's Farm. Folks often ask me what is new. For 2023 I will be planting San Marzano sauce tomatoes for canning or freezing, pink celery, southern lettuce varieties, bite size gherkins, tokyo bekana (a mild mustard green), beets, purple scallions, and gilfeather turnip in addition to the usual favorites everyone loves. Are you thinking about joining a CSA? One benefit of shopping at DJ’s Farm Fresh Produce and other local farm stands is that you pay as you go, buying just what you need when you need it each week. There is no commitment, subscription, or wasted food involved. As always, produce will be available when Mother Nature says the crops are ready for harvest.
