No Hot Water? Is your tank not getting as hot as it use to? This could be due to something simple like a dip tube, but it may be time to look into getting a new tank. Age of tank - Some tanks will last for years past their warranty date, however after 10 years, it's a good idea to think about changing out the tank. Corrosion & Rust - Happens overtime due to small leaks and drips that go unnoticed. Remember to check your tank from time to time. Pilot keeps going out? This is usually fixed by simply changing the thermocouple on the gas valve/burner assembly. Sacrificial Anode Rod - A 3/4" anode rod made from aluminium or magnesium is in your tank. Without this rod, your tank would rapidly corrode, shortening its life. Check this rod annually to see if it needs to be replaced. Note: A standard hot water heater (Atmospheric vent / natural draft) is at best, 80% efficient. For every dollar you spend heating water, approximately 20 cents goes up the chimney.
