If an accused has previously withdrawn a bail petition from a high court, the Supreme Court has held that he cannot approach it for post-arrest bail. "This court's appellate jurisdiction in bail proceedings, under Article 185(3), is entirely distinct from the high court's and court of session's original jurisdiction in bail matters, under Section 498, Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC)," wrote Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah in a decision.
