Today is World Arthritis Day.
Massage is a fantastic way to care for arthritis, however they have to be very gentle types of massage. I generally use Cranial Sacral as it is deeply affecting but non evasive, or a very light aromatherapy massage.
If you or a loved one suffers from an inflammatory condition, here are a few self help ideas to start to integrate:
-Epsom salt baths or compress on inflamed joints, wonderfully soothing
-A tennis or dryer ball to massage under the feet particularly in the morning allows the entire system to wake up and engage.
-Breathing, sounds silly I know, but even 2 min of mindful breathing can bring the nervous system from fight an flight down to rest an repair and therefore calming flare ups.
- Don’t forget the power of gentle relaxed movement practices and some self massage.
Some essential oils that I use for inflammatory conditions either in room diffuser, massage oil or compress
Here are my top 6:
1. Eucalyptus oil.
2. Ginger oil.
3. Turmeric oil.
4. Frankincense oil.
5. Lavender & Bergamot
