If there's no place like home, there's also no poet like Homer. If you've only read the Homeric poems in translation, you haven't really experienced them. 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲'𝘀 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗜𝗩 builds on the foundation of Greek III (or its equivalent) to tackle the nuance and beauty of the 𝘖𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘺 in its stately hexameters. We read several books entire, and a number of other passages from other books, to sample the variety of diction and narrative content. Far from being an episodic and scattered patchwork, as some have thought it, it exhibits considerable narrative and subtle thematic unity. The reading load is roughly equivalent to that of an AP Latin course (or our Latin IV); there are very few places you can find the equivalent material. Because it does expect a high level of readiness, instructor permission is required: contact Dr. Bruce McMenomy directly about enrolling. Adult students are also welcome, provided they behave themselves. Read a blog entry on the text and the course, written by a student in 2012. She since won the National Greek Exam scholarship and completed a classics major at the University of Dallas. https://www.scholarsonline.org/Blog/?p=305
