If your BMW or MINI electric windows and lights suddenly stop working, you likely have a corrupt footwell module (FRM). There is a known issue with FRM modules running software earlier than 2016. Data stored in a microchip becomes corrupt. This can be caused when plugging into the vehicle's diagnostic port or in this case when the customer was jump-starting the vehicle after a flat battery. Fortunately, we are able to reprogram the chip. This involves removing the module, disassembling the FRM module to reach the chip, reprogramming it, and reinstalling the module. We can usually carry out this repair for £150.
