Dahlias are at their peak at this time of year. These easy to grow tubers originate from Mexico, and make great cut flowers. They are available in a kaleidoscope of colours and intricate flower forms, but to keep them flowering you will need to deadhead assiduously. In milder coastal areas they should over-winter in the ground but at higher levels you may need to lift and store the tubers somewhere frost free. Enjoy!
