PAI applications in automotive and 3D printing DEXNYL PAI by BIEGLO GmbH is the result of converting a thermoplastic into a cross-linked thermoset during a longer curing process. It has a distinctive brown-yellow colour. DEXNYL PAI is a Polyamide-imide which has a continuous service temperature of 260°C and can easily withstand up to 200°C. This lightweight, highimpact and #wearresistant material is becoming more and more famous among a vast range of industries as a replacement to metal. Replacing traditional steel with #thermoplastic mouldings is a major strategy adopted by the auto makers. The lightweights components made of PAI not only gives ample opportunity for the OEMs in the design, but also reducing the overall transportationcost. The major shift in automotiveindustry is experiencing rapid manufacturing for high volume cars and gaining efficiency in lead time. This also needs investment in R&D of prototype that test the efficiency of the finished product. This is giving immense importance and scope to 3D printing for prototyping, in turn increasing the scope of PAI’s applications.
