Hello Mt.Mitchell community and all our neighboring communities everyone at mt.mitchell fire department would like to remind everyone this april to make sure you and your family have a fire safety home escape plan. They are easy to make and you and your family should practice them day and night throughout the year so everyone knows where your safe place is during a fire emergency. This could also be a weekend activity you can do with your family on the weekends. Get a piece of paper and draw a map of the inside of the house and show each other two ways out of the house. You also want to show your family how to get out on their own incase yall cant find each other. A tool your whole family can use is the back of your hand to feel the door to see if the door is hot or cold. We have also put a link below to the national fire prevention association to help you and your family with more tips and a checklist and a video to watch with your family.
