Hello everyone Mt.Mitchell fire department would like to remind everyone to please check and change your batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Also we would like to remind everyone that thanksgiving is also around the corner, while traveling please be sure to follow the rules of the road such as speed limit laws, wearing seat belts, and maintaining a safe distance while driving to help keep your family safe while on the roads this holiday season. We would also like to remind people that are planning on deep frying your turkeys to please make sure your turkey is completely thawed out and dried out, also make sure your not in your garage due to possible flare up from the oil that could possibly catch your house or garage on fire. Also follow the directions on how much oil you're putting in your fryer. This would also be a good time to sit with your family and go over the meeting areas in case there is a fire in your residents. We hope everyone has a safe thanksgiving this year.
