With heavy rains and a poor drainage system, excess moisture and water vapor can find their way into your house's building materials and building envelope. If left alone for extended periods of time, this can result in water leaking and ultimately elevated humidity levels, which can lower the indoor air quality for the building occupants and allow for water damage from the moisture intrusion. To remediate excess moisture or excess humidity in a home, first, try a dehumidifier to see if it would be sufficient to remove enough water from the air to bring the relative humidity to around 40%. If high humidity is a problem, take a moment to learn about the dehumidifier we use in our home and the best dehumidifier of the year right here: https://spsinspections.com/best-humidifiers-and-dehumidifiers-of-2019/.
