I have talked to many clients who have received LinkedIn messages from recruiters and have not known how to respond. Sometimes they feel special and other times they think it's a generic message sent to everyone. I have seen both, however, it is good to respond with professionalism regardless of the recruiter's intent. Anyone who is looking for a job should have a LinkedIn profile. This is another reason why your profile should look great if you are seeking a new role. Even if you submit a resume without a LinkedIn address because you do not think your profile is up to par, know that recruiters will find it.
