Mount Kenya is the most popular trekking mountain in the country. While most tourists know Kenya as a beach holiday and safari country, the second-highest mountain range in Africa offers great opportunities for active adventure and fascinating landscape. Although it is located on the equator, but at an altitude of between 2,200 and 5,200 meters above sea level, the main peak Batian has snow-covered glaciers all year round. Mount Kenya’s highest point is Batian at 5,199 m and together with Nelion (5,188 m), forms the twin peaks. Several Mount Kenya hiking routes and different levels of difficulty have been developed. There are different degrees of difficulty, but the summit ascent should not take less than 4 to 7 days. The three main Mount Kenya Climbing routes: Naro Moru Route: Fastest of the routes to Point Lenana - Naro Moru Gate - Meteorological Station - Mackinder’s Camp - Point Lenana - https://www.mountkenyaclimbing.com/mountainclimbing/naromoruroute.html Sirimon Route: Nanyuki - Sirimon Gate - Old Moses Camp - Shipton’s Camp - Point Lenana - https://www.mountkenyaclimbing.com/mountainclimbing/sirimonroute.html Chogoria route: Chogoria - Chogoria Gate - Minto’s Hut - Point Lenana - https://www.mountkenyaclimbing.com/mountainclimbing/chogorianaromoruroute.html There is also Burguret route (rather wild and rarely used) and Timau route (northern side, rarely used).
