A recent notice about reduced operating hours for control towers at airports in Texas brings increased airspace access without required authorizations for drone pilots. So, recreational and commercial UAS pilots flying their drones near Longview, Texas and Spring, Texas will find that they have a few more hours added to the day when they don't require a flight authorization. However, we found that Meacham International Airport near Fort Worth, Texas has an identity crisis. The change notice for control tower operations did not state what Meacham's Class D airspace reverts to when the tower is closed.
