Common Home Foundation Repairs Are NOT Designed To Be Permanent The most common home foundation repair method used in Texas is the "Pushed Pile" method. It is a faster and easier job task for contractors. Unfortunately it is flawed with multiple disadvantages. The structural engineers at A-1 Engineering have labeled this common foundation repair method as "temporary" and "one of the most useless and ineffective types of foundation repairs or foundation stabilization that you can get". Yet homeowners continue to purchase this repair method because it is cheaper and they are uninformed about quality differences in repair methods. At Dawson Foundation Repair we use the Bell Bottom Pier repair method. It uses more concrete, more steel rebar, more labor, and requires more time. But it is Proven, Time-Tested, and Permanent. Bell Bottom Pier installation requires a 10 to 15 foot excavation for the pouring of the wet concrete. At the time of installation steel rebar will be place in several places in the pier for additional strength and weight bearing capacity. The bell bottom has a footprint that is 13 times larger than the standard 6 inch diameter pier used by the Pushed Pile method. The larger "belled" footprint gives the Bell Bottom Pier increased stability, greater weigh bearing capacity, and resists upheaval. If you want High Quality Home Foundation Repair then it will cost a little more. You get what you pay for.
