Last week I replaced a cracked display in this Lenovo laptop for a student at our local college. It's back again, the reported failure: as he was doing homework it got slower and slower until it stopped working. Restarting the laptop went nowhere fast. Based on update history I thought at first this was a Windows Update problem. As I worked on it I soon realized the 500gb Seagate hard drive was failing. Luckily this student keeps all his school documents in the cloud so he has lost nothing of importance. He opted to replace the failing drive with a 500gb solid state drive which should improve overall performance. The best prices on SSD's are online so it will be a few days before I can return the repaired laptop to its owner.
