Sheng Jian Bao 生煎包 is one of the best known local street food in Shanghai and has over 100 years of history. But do you know there are two types of Sheng Jian Bao known to the Shanghai locals. 📍 "Clear Water Sheng Jian" 清水生煎 - deemed as the most authentic and traditional type and therefore favoured by many middle aged or old Shanghainese. The dough is thick from proofing process, the buns are sealed on top, and very little soup inside. 📍 "Mixed Water Sheng Jian" 浑水生煎 - the dough is very thin as it is only half proved, the buns are sealed at the bottom and full of "soup" or juice from pork fat. As you can see from this picture, our Sheng Jian is a Clear Water type, like everything else on our menu - authentic and traditional Shanghainese! We open 7 days a week and is located right across from Light Rail Haymarket stop and a few minutes walk from Market City in Chinatown. Walk-ins welcome. BYO free of corkage charge. NSW Dine & Discover vouchers are accepted here.
