“Measure Twice” but “Make Haste,” dear Gentle Readers, to attend Selkie Book’s Free Event on Saturday, November 19, 2-4 p.m., featuring “An Afternoon With…” Rock Hall’s Architectural Preservationist Extraordinaire, LISA SASSER, on "Preserving Unimpaired for the Enjoyment of Future Generations.” ♥️💕🪚🪵🪜 Ms Sasser is a Founding Member and past President of the Preservation Trades Network, and a past Board Member and President of the Timber Framers Guild. She is a current Board Member of Preservation Maryland, and Area Representative on the Board of the Maryland Historical Trust. We Rock Hallers also know Ms Sasser fondly as, with another Rock Hall Community Leader Liz Smith, one of the saw and paintbrush wielders at “Measure Twice Woodworks of Rock Hall,” creators of custom skiffs, tables, and birdhouses, plus the darling “school of fishies” Selkie loves to offer in our Gift Baskets! ⚓️🦉⛵️🐠 At the 11/19 event, Ms Sasser will share her career experiences beginning as a Museum Technician at the Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock,Texas; as the first woman to enter the National Park Service “historic preservation trades training program”; as a Historical Architect on the Denver NPS Service Center Team; as Asst Chief Historical Architect for the NPS in Washington, DC; as Consultant and Instructor with NPS Learning & Development and Vanishing Treasures Programs; and as the Instructor for more than 25 workshops on “Guiding Principles for Field-based Historic Preservation.”
