Solomon man of Wisdom & Folly Thru the Bible: 1Kings 9:10-11:40; 2Chron. 8-9:31 Solomon was the wisest man to have ever walked the earth due to God's blessing him with wisdom at his request. By wisdom he constructed the more perminent tabernacle, built his palace and many other constructions. He became wealthy beyond words and the fame of him reached far and wide. He was both honorable in his judgments and likeable in his character. Yet, for all this, he not only had a weakness - he fell prey to it and it brought him to inner ruin. Solomon had many wives and concubines - and scripture never comes against this as if it were a sin. It was however unwise. Also, the women he chose to marry WERE forbidden to Israelites and THAT WAS a sin. In the end it was his wives and his love for them which turned his heart from ONLY worshipping the Lord God of Israel. As a result God took all but one tribe from the kingship of his son and gave them over to another man and cause Solomon's reign of peace to end. In his latter days the kingdom knew war.
