If My people...would seek first MY Kingdom Thru the Bible: 2Chron. 6:24-7:22; 1Kings 8:22-9:9 Solomon's famous prayer and God's answer to that prayer has been used as the basis for countless petitions to God regarding political matters under the New Covenant. Tonight we examine both WHAT Solomon actually prayed and then examine the answer God gave in reply which offers a lot of clarity on this very popular section of scripture. The key to much of this is understanding the difference between the promises and conditions of the Old Covenant of works and the promises and condition of the New Covenant of faith. Also, paramount in aiding the understanding of this issue is knowing what Solomon and God were referring to when they spoke of "healing the land". This message is NOT to serve as a discouragement against praying for our leaders or our governments, but it is an encouragement to stop attempting to apply Old Testament pomises given to the Jewish nation ALL OF WHICH were under Judaism - to New Covenant people who live in a completely diversified nation. Also, it is an encouragement to seek first GOD's kingdom rather than finding our hope in this natural world.
