Asa, a godly king in Judah Thru the Bible: 1Kings 15:1-16:28 / 2Chron. 12:1-16:14 This is the time following the reign of Rehoboam, Solomon's son, over Judah. Though there were several kings over both Judah AND Israel, one comes to the forfront as the only true good example and that is King Asa. This lesson reveals many things, but one of the most important is that just because a person may love and serve the Lord for many, many years - there may still be a deadly pride which has laid in their hearts which time and circumstance has not yet uncovered. Though Asa served God for 35 years, he eventually made a single bad decision. When the prophet confronted King Asa about his sin, Asa became prideful, indignant and began to take his anger out on others including the prophet. Asa died 5 years later in his pride and without seeking the Lord for help.
