Series: Do we REALLY believe? Suffering in the context of the Christian life can take on many forms, but the one that brings the Glory designed and desired by the Father in the lives of His children comes from denying our fleshly cravings and desires. Jesus did this as well and since He did it IN HIS HUMANITY, by the aid of the same Holy Spirit He gave to us, Jesus serves as our example. Jesus KNEW the Father intimately and as such He deeply valued Him. That value...that reverential fear, honor and respect compelled Christ to spend Himself on the will of the Father...even to the point of death. The Garden of Gethsemane was Jesus' final round with the enemy. He came to the Garden to request another way, but he left the garden determined to fulfill the will of the Father. It was His great love and devotion to the God He knew that drove Jesus to complete obedience in all things...and as we come to know Jesus in the way He knew the Father, we will enter into suffering with the same resolve!
