God seeded a church in pagan Corinth Series: Holy Spirit - Helper & Friend After Paul left Athens he traveled to Corinth where he met with much opposition from some of the Jews, but the local authorities did not aid them against Paul. Paul stayed in Corinth for some time. We learn later in the letters Paul wrote to this church that they struggled with immaturity in Christ which expressed it self in various sins, contentions, strife, bickering and such. Considering the background of Corinth as a city this is not too much of a surprise. In many ways they were a corrupt and outspoken mixture of modern Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami & New York city all rolled up into one. Especially rampant in Corinth was drunkeness and sexual sin... Yet God had reserved for Himself a people in this city, and in spite of their struggles He called them His Own!
