In the early church...Where the Spirit led, they followed Series: Holy Spirit - Helper & Friend This week we are witnessing the love, respect and trust the early church had for each other and the Spirit Who led them. When there was a question or problem, the people came directly to each other. They did not talk behind each other's back. If the one questioned was one in authority they did not pull rank, but answered the questions and both parties honored each other. Also, when prophets came from Jerusalem to the young church in Antioch, Agabus speaking by the Spirit warned of a coming famine. The largely Gentile church of Antioch, instead of hording their resources immediately gave to the Jews in Jerusalem to offer them aid out of respect and gratitute to them for being the ones through whom the world was hearing the message of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul later in a letter to the Romans told the Gentiles that they were in debt to the Jews for the Spiritual blessing of salvation which came through them and that as a result the Gentiles should bless the Jews monitarily. These are beautiful passages with great depth of meaning for those with ears to hear! Blessings!
