I've sent them, even as You sent Me Series: Holy Spirit - Helper & Friend Well last week we finished up John 16 as we're working through Jesus's last week on Earth with his disciples as a mortal man, and the lessons He was eager to teach them which He knew were the most vital lessons they needed to learn before His departure. I want to remind you that John 12-17 are somewhat sequencil in the way they are presented in John's testimony of Jesus. It begins at the end of chapter 12 with Jesus teaching three things which also came up again as we progress through to chapter 17. 1. That to see Jesus was to see the Father 2. That Jesus came to reveal the Father 3. That eternal life was to know both the Father and the Son Chapter 13 Jesus illustrated they type of love they were to show for one another by washed the disciples' feet. Chapter 14 Jesus encourages them regarding His departure, telling them He would not leave them without comfort our guidance. Chapter 15 Jesus tells them of the new relationship they had with He and the Father which He illustrated with a grapevine. Chapter 16 as they neared the garden He told them that their lives would become a testimony of Him. Then Jesus entered the garden to pray and upon finishing prayed His high priestly prayer right before the disciples, in which prayer He commissions the all who would believe to continue His ministry of revealing the Father to the world.
