The Breach House
The Breach House

The amazing news from Hansons Auctioneers (http://www.hansonsauctioneers.co.uk) that a recently discovered postcard of 1910 from Lawrence to his then girlfriend Louie Burrows sold for a whopping £3,000 reminded us of our own ongoing postcard project. We invited Lawrence enthusiasts to write to him via Breach House which resulted in a wonderful lot of messages, some in the guise of literary luminaries such as J M Barrie, Arnold Bennett and Alan Sillitoe as well as, coincidentally, a heartbroken Ms. Burrows (see post of March 15th). We haven't had any new ones for a while, though he does seem to have 'written' to us during these locked down times, as any Lawrence reader will testify. Here's just one random example from 'Phoenix': 'the point is not whether we can do anything about it or not, the point is, that we should all become acutely conscious of what has happened...and...we can begin to arrange things differently.' I'm sure he would love to hear from you, so keep 'em coming.
