A periodontal probing allows us to measure the distance from the crest of the gum tissue (that closest to the tooth) all the way down to the base of the β€œpocket” where the gingival attachment to the tooth is found. In healthy mouths, these measurements should read between 1 and 3 mm. Increasing probing depths indicate gingival inflammation and/or bone loss. Regular periodontal probings allow clinicians the opportunity to identify and manage periodontal disease as early as possible to prevent its progression. These measurements should be taken at least once per year for teen or adult patients lacking periodontal disease and more often for those who have been diagnosed with some degree of periodontal disease Schedule your next cleaning & evaluation at Danville Dentistry – Please call 925.837.7277 π‘Ύπ’†π’π’„π’π’Žπ’Šπ’π’ˆ π’π’†π’˜ π’‘π’‚π’•π’Šπ’†π’π’•π’” #danvilledentist #cosmeticdentist #gentledentist #bestdentist
