Informing your spouse that you have engaged an attorney may only bring about unnecessary confrontation and hostility to an already-fragile situation. Most issues in an uncontested divorce can be worked out between the two parties without the need of lawyers. That being said, however, having an attorney on your side to help prepare you for compromise is almost always the best approach to your uncontested divorce.
