Newport Beach: High-Chase Reaching Over 100 Miles Per Hour Results in Deadly Collision On Sunday at 5:35 a.m., an Orange County patrol officer attempted to make a traffic stop of a black Honda Accord that was reported stolen. However, the driver of the vehicle did not stop and directed the police on a pursuit through the downtown Huntington Beach area. The pursuit went to more than 100 miles per hour and ended in a single-vehicle crash of the suspect vehicle. The passenger was killed and the driver was critically injured as a result of the high-speed and reckless driving.
