Saturday morning and Marc is working on a Mini with contaminated coolant. It is unclear what the contamination is - could simply be old coolant which has broken down or been mixed with a different type of coolant. It could be an additive or a "gasket seal" type product from a previous repair. What was clear is the need for an urgent coolant flush, and fresh coolant adding! However, look at the state of the expansion tank .... New expansion bottles aren't cheap so here is a solution to restoring the original. Remove the tank from the vehicle and partially fill it with rice. Yes, rice. Shake it vigorously, having blocked the holes first, and the rice effectively shot blasts the inside and brings it up like new. Repeat a few times.
