Local art studio hopes the holiday season will boost business following closure due to pandemic art studio By: Robert Boyd HOLIDAY, Fla. — There is an art studio in Pasco County that is attempting to rebound this holiday season through a cornucopia of workshops, where people of all ages can make crafts. Jersey Girl Art Studio was only opened a few months before the pandemic shut them down. For seniors like Linda Thull, it’s a much-needed escape. She joined two of her friends to make fall wreaths on Wednesday. “Well we’ve all felt so isolated, and its been so hard, talking to your friends on the phone isn’t the same, so this is a great outlet,” said Thull. Rosemarie Scordamaglia opened the Jersey Girl Art Studio in Holiday last November. She never could have imagined how difficult that first year would turn out to be. “It was really hard to close down, cancel classes, refund because we still had to pay our rent,” said Scordamaglia. 2020 was supposed to be the year she passes the baton, or in this case paintbrush, to her daughter Erin, who is a senior in high school. “Erin I knew was really artistic, this has always been a hobby to me, and I found a way to make it a business that I can pass on to her,” said Scordamaglia. After months of being closed, they are now relying heavily on the holiday craft season, from wreaths to cards to ornaments to hats, to keep this family business going.
