Are you the type of musician that wants to know the behind-the-scenes of how sound effects, such as punches or food wars, are produced in films? These special sounds are called ‘Foley’. Foley is the art of recreating sound effects in a studio that mirrors the sounds of life itself. When it comes to recreating sound effects, your mind may initially jump to scenes involving intense car chases and huge explosions, also mundane sounds in our world that include characters picking up an object, setting an object down, and even footsteps across a room. When creating foley sounds, there’s a full team behind to make it happen: 1- Foley Team Leader: This person meets with the director and producers and plans out all of the sounds that are going to be needed to be captured for the film and coordinate the crew. 2- Foley Engineer: This member is in charge of setting up the microphones, maintaining the session, and properly mixing the foley sound effects that are being created. They also control video and audio playback. 3- Foley Artist/Walkers: These team members actually walk and move to create the foley sound effects.
