What’s happening lately? I am sharing my experience with troubleshooting a laptop. At first, this was a call about a mess created because Windows 11 had been installed on a new desktop. Come to find out; the desktop was shared with a reasonably new laptop. Now, we will focus on this laptop. I watched the behavior, and he/she was very slow and not connecting to the local internet. While in my shop, this laptop did connect to my network and internet. I performed my troubleshooting, cleanup, and tune-up. Everything went well, and I returned the computer. This laptop went right back to connecting to the Wi-Fi network but not to the internet. The desktop was working fantastically. Back to my shop he/she goes. After reinstalling Windows 10 Pro, I found that the machine was running under a guest account, not admin. Let that go and found the machine was infected in a way I had never seen before. This time I wiped the hard drive then Installed Windows 10 Pro. Good to go so far. There is much more troubleshooting, but this was the short story without giving away my techniques. This IT whisperer is very happy, and the remote company that my customer hired has been fired. Having a local technician is best, and we thrive on one-to-one business, not virtual.
