A Business Truly Invested In Community In my sharpening business, I have been looking for a solution for making repairs to bent knives, scissors and garden tools. Sometimes tools get out of alignment from use over many years. Bending them back, cleaning, and sharpening can restore the cutting quality and keep them out of the landfill. I tried a few things from hand pliers to a piece of railroad track to make adjustments. I knew that I needed something better to help with bending and peening of tools and pivot bolts. I found two ideas for restoring tools. The first was a bending stick that I made. The second solution I found was a helpful video on using an Anvil Shaped Object or better yet, a block of hard steel made from scraps. A whole lot less expensive than an anvil and it repurposes materials usually sitting around in a local machine shop. This simple solution inspired me to to reached out to machine shops in our community for scrap steel blocks. I heard back from only one of four that I contacted. This was Bonneville Machine in SLC. They not only helped me find a great anvil block from leftover steel, they were glad to lend a hand to a small community business in Salt Lake. A heartfelt thank you to Bonneville Machine for helping with the cutting edge services of Bonneville Sharpening.
