Fixing a Deviated Septum A deviated septum is a cavity in the bone of your nose that can become blocked or deviate from its proper position and create breathing difficulties for you. Typically, when this occurs it is not long before the other features on the nose start to be affected as well. This can include your upper lip, your soft palate, your nasal bones and cartilage, your tongue and even your cheeks can all fall victim to the various disorders that can plague the nose. When the septum starts to move out of alignment, it is known as a deviate septum. If left untreated, it can cause a whole host of respiratory issues, including nasal swelling, sinus problems, headaches, congestion and even weight gain. While there are numerous treatments that can be used for this condition, there are natural methods that can help prevent it from happening and reverse its effects as well. One of the most effective methods for doing this is through nasal irrigation. Nasal irrigation is simply putting a solution of warm water into your nasal cavities to rinse them out, making sure that the liquid never reaches the phlegm inside of the nose and this can help to keep the nasal bones in their proper place.
