Massage for health.

I firmly believe in the health benefits of massage therapy.  Stress is a major precursor of most ailments and diseases.  Being generous enough to yourself and committing to a massage therapy schedule can help you live a long and healthy life.  Massage therapists are trained to be aware of the body's of their clients.  We can notice your body in ways you or your partner do not.  Small changes in your body can be pointed out before symptoms arise.  Example, changes in moles, changes in muscle tension, changes in your spinal alignment, changes in your feet, changes in your posture, changes in weight loss or gain.  It is important that we all learn to value ourselves enough to actually care for our bodies.  Spending now on a regular massage schedule can save you thousands in health care bills later in life.  Ignoring your body gets very expensive!

Education:

Makawao School of Therapeutic Massage, graduated 1999.  Private practice for entire massage therapy career.

Experience:

I was born to serve.  I worked many, many years in the restaurant industry.  Everything from 4 Star restaurants to diners, cook to reservations manager was part of my career.  I was trained by passionate, hard working small business owners.  Everything had to be the very best there was to offer, even better.  Those years and training made me the person I was when finally, I decided to go to massage school and I do believe learning to serve customers and fellow workers makes me a better massage therapist than a person who never experienced that training.  Listening and communicating with clients is of utmost importance.  You can give a great massage, but, if it's not the massage that is most helpful to your client, it's not really a great massage.  What my clients say dictate the massage session.  One of my early massage teachers is an Aikido Master.  He taught me the importance of feeling the energy, absorbing and reflecting that energy.  From him, I learned to clear my mind before each massage session and tune in to the energy and physical state of my client.  Another set of teachers introduced me to essential oils.  I knew instantly how beautiful, fun and powerful they can be when used with knowledge and intention.  I have been using them in my practice since 1999.  Through these years of experience I have learned the art of blending and it is one of the true joys of my life.  I love being with a client, talking with him or her, sensing and knowing which oils to choose to achieve the greatest level of assistance for them.  Of course, everyone wants to know about the stones.  I probably get more questions and comments about them than everything else put together.  During the first year of my massage career, hot stone massage was really taking off.  It was everywhere!  At the time, I lived on a property with a creek full of stones.  I picked some, bought a crock pot and practiced.  Just like with the essential oils, I knew right away what a benefit they would be for me and my clients.  The heat, weight and energy of the stones soothe the spirit, calm the mind and melt the muscles.  A massage then becomes a totally enjoyable, relaxing experience rather than a strictly therapeutic one.  We move beyond the realm of "fixing" to the realm of healing with the beautiful combination of hot stones & essential oils.  I look forward to each and every client who walks through my door!
