Located in the historic town of Honoka'a on the Big Island's Hamākua Coast, Hina Rae's Café is a humble eatery with unique, vibrant fare including delectable açai bowls, savory waffle sandwiches, fresh brewed coffee, italian sodas, local lunch specials and more.
Food is the heart and soul of culture and family, especially here in Hawai'i. It is our mission to embrace sustainability, support local purveyors and to create delicious food!

The Big Island boasts a bountiful array of fresh local produce and products. From sweet Rincon Farm strawberries plucked out of Kamuela soil, freshly baked breads from Mamane Bakery, to Aina Meli's pure Hawaiian Raw Honey from the Ka'u district - we proudly support Big Island farmers and purveyors!
What is açai?
The açai berry is a reddish-purple fruit that comes from the açai palm tree, which is native to Central and South America.
Our açai blend is made from the fruit pulp that is proven to be even richer in antioxidants than cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, or blueberries. Delicious and healthy for you? Who knew!

shelina + Kalei
A random stroll through Honoka'a town led Shelina Ignacio and Kalei Serrao to the storefront that is now Hina Rae's Café.
Unexpected, impulsive and completely perfect. That's how it all started. The couple, both Honoka'a High School alumni, never thought they'd one day be owners of a little café, though now they can't imagine life any other way.

Why Hina Rae's? The café is named after Shelina and Kalei's two beautiful daughters, Mahina and Ella Rae!
Along with big brother Kaeden, Hina and Ella are the inspirations and "the reason" behind the family business.
for a cause
For every Kaeden's Fave Açai Bowl purchased, Hina Rae's Café will donate 10¢ to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawai'i.
When baby Ella Rae was born at only 26 weeks old on O'ahu, the Ronald McDonald house was a "home away from home" for Shelina as Ella spent four months in the NICU. Now, big brother Kaeden wants to help give back! Buy his fav, support a cause!
