"My name is Robert Lunzmann. I’m a Canadian who has been studying tabla with Maestro Pankaj Suhash Ji for 2 years. Before arriving in Rishikesh, I was a professional musician in Canada. When I was creating music, playing shows and touring, I always felt that I was missing something and I never was able to find out exactly what that something was. This led me to India. After starting my lessons with Pankaj I started to really see what it was. I was missing the offering back to music. I always was taking from that sacred space, which in that industry built many egos. Now that I’m studying here full-time I have learned the lessons in humility. Every moment I spend with Pankaj JI, I learn many lessons leading to one thing: Stay Humble!" Robert Lunzmann, Canada
"Pankaj Ji’s Sunday concerts opened me up to a world of music I am delighting in continually discovering. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience the pure performances that Pankaj Ji and his students put on. The serenity I experienced in hearing Pankaj Ji's music, and the purity of intent and devotion with which he played has inspired me to begin the long journey of learning the nuances of Indian Classical Music. But also it has inspired my approach to how I play jazz drums, and expanded my notions of what music can do for the soul, of the degree of spiritual nourishment which it can deliver. I was also fortunate enough to take a handful of vocal lessons with Pankaj Ji during my short stay in Rishikesh. He was very warm and informative, and after the lessons, even offered me homemade food and drinks and invited me to stay and chat." |

"I’m Kumi from japan. I learned sitar and bansuri from Pankaj Ji. I was very much a beginner and I was not good in the first week. The sound was not correct at my classes. So I thought I'm sorry to my teacher. But Pankaj Ji was dealing with me seriously and kindly all the time. During the lesson, he told me about the Indian gods many times. I really understood when Pankaj Ji told it to me, It was better than reading a book or the internet. Because Indian classical music is dedicated to gods, also gods will descend from the sky to us and we will play music together. I’ve been practicing yoga for 10 years now. When I started to play Indian instruments, listening to the sound of it I became to realize the “Heart of India”. Do you know what is the “Sound of yoga? As it’s called “Nada yoga”. The sounds of the bansuri flute and Indian stringed instruments are amazing effects on meditation and deep spiritual concentration to us. So no matter if we read yoga knowledges and practice yoga for a long time, still it is difficult to understand only these things. Pankaj Ji will welcome you like his family, I really love this style above all. If we want to know about traditional Indian cultures, you need get into the real Indian family. So many local Indian students from children to old people come to this music school, and you will see how wonderful a teacher he is. Pankaj Ji and his students will play a concert on every Sunday, It is also my favorite and I join it. My heart is always full of gratitude and I am happy person when I stay in Rishikesh." |
