Dr. James E. Oxer, a native of Lake Placid, Florida, graduated from the University of Florida in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business Management.

Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant, where he served eight years as a helicopter instructor pilot. He departed the Army in June 1995 as a Captain to enter dental school at the University of Florida. He graduated with honors in 1999 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and returned to Lake Placid to practice.

In 2001, Dr. Oxer completed a year long continuum in Implant Dentistry at the Center for Implant Dentistry at the University of Florida. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast Dental Association, and is a past officer in the Highlands County Dental Association. He is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry. 
Monique, his wife of 28 years, accompanies him here in Lake Placid.  His children, Tanner and Melina, attend the University of Florida.

Dr. Oxer is a certified flight instructor in airplanes and helicopters.  His hobbies include, flying, fishing, softball, ranching, and spending time with his family.
