1 dead after pickup crashes into semi hauling wind turbine base

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — One person is dead after a pickup crashed into a semi hauling a base to a wind turbine.

The crash happened just before 7 a.m. at East Amarillo Boulevard and Folsom Road.

A tan Chevrolet pickup was driving westbound on E. Amarillo Blvd. Meanwhile, a semi truck and trailer carrying a base to a wind turbine was southbound on Folsom Rd. and attempting to turn onto E. Amarillo Blvd.

The Chevy hit the side of the trailer. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

The semi's driver was not injured.

Potter County Judge Robert Taylor was contacted and arrived on the scene.

Amarillo Police Department's Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
