Fontaine Caffe, the Newest Addition to Your Morning Routine!

“Where the locals eat!” may be Fontaine Bistro’s slogan, but their Fontaine Caffe will take that to the next level, becoming a place where local bakery business will thrive. Fontaine Bistro, known for their French cuisine and sweet and savory crepes, has now opened a to-go coffee shop right next door at 115 S Royal Street. You may recognize the storefront as the creperie’s overflow or private party room. Now it serves a new purpose, as Old Town’s newest to-go coffee shop.  We had a chance to chat with Fontaine manager, Stacey Wharam. After talking with Stacey, it was clear that partnering with small local businesses was most important to the success of this new project. Yes, there are two different Starbucks within walking distance of Fontaine, but Fontaine Caffe offers more than just coffee to-go. At Fontaine Caffe, you’ll find a curated selection of unique, local breads and pastries to pair with your morning coffee or tea. Featuring small local bakers is at the core of Fontaine Caffe, aiming to be a platform for these small businesses to launch themselves, sell their wares, and get exposure in our Alexandria community.  Fontaine Caffe already has an exciting lineup of local bakeries to feature. Ozfeka, a Turkish bakery, will bring in Ceviz, shortbread cookies with chocolate and walnuts, and Simits, a bread similar to a bagel served with cheese and fruit preserves. Looking for something sweeter? Try donuts from local favorite Elizabeth’s Counter, or a pie from Acme Pie Company. Fontaine Caffe also has cookies from Archer & Fig and Sugar Cookie Sisters to pair with your morning coffee. Looking for baguettes? Stop in for French baguettes from Fresh Baguette or Baguette Republic. These bakery items are made and delivered fresh every day!   Maybe you don’t often make it out to Sterling, Arlington, or even the west side of Alexandria, but by bringing these area favorites together in one location, Fontaine Caffe hopes this will give patrons an opportunity to try the specialties of local bakers with the convenience of Fontaine’s location to Old Town neighborhoods. If you know a local baker or are a local baker looking to partner with Fontaine Caffe, you can send an email to info@fontainecaffe.com Fontaine Caffe will feature savory and sweet treats with coffee and tea beverages to-go in this quaint, European market-style cafe. The Caffe will be open from 7am - 2:30pm Monday through Friday and open from 7am - 10am on the weekend before closing to accommodate Fontaine’s brunch overflow from its Bistro next door.We are so excited to welcome Fontaine Caffe to our morning routines to satisfy our caffeine and sweet desires. Make sure to check out Fontaine’s newly repurposed space next door to their heavenly creperie and discover new treats from local favorites, curated just for you!
