Meet Tim

Meet Tim

As a boy, Tim had two dreams: playing in the NFL and becoming a best-selling author.

Both of those dreams have come true.

About Tim

About Tim

After studying writing at Syracuse University where he was an All American football player, Tim was drafted in the first round of the NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons where he was a top defensive player for eight years.

While Tim played in the NFL, he also studied law and began his writing career. By the time he retired from football in 1994, Tim had already published his first book and become a lawyer. In addition to those two jobs, he began working as a television broadcaster for FOX NFL Sunday and other shows, including Battlebots, Good Morning America, Court TV, A Current Affair, and most recently, Find My Family.

After writing more than a dozen books for adults (available on Amazon/Nook Book (eBook)), Tim began writing a series of novels for young readers set in a world of sports taken from his own experiences as an athlete and a coach. Since that time, he has made more than 1200 school visits and spoken to nearly a half million kids across the United States, delivering a powerful message about the importance of education, reading books, and good character—even though his own childhood dream was to become an NFL player—he had another dream equally as powerful to become a writer. He now urges kids to put school before sports and to think about success in terms of personal relationships and kindness rather than fortune and fame. Coming from an athlete who realized his dreams of becoming a college All-American and signing a first-round draft pick million dollar contract, his message is highly motivational. To date, he has used every cent of his speaking fees to buy copies of his books for kids, libraries, and schools who couldn’t otherwise afford them.

Tim serves on the board of the Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY, as well as the National Writing Project. He lives with his wife, Illyssa, their five kids, and three dogs in Upstate New York. When Tim isn’t writing, he enjoys boating, fishing, hunting, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.
