French Haircare Brand Ma Coiffeuse Afro Closes Series A

The French haircare brand and at-home appointment app Ma Coiffeuse Afro landed a new funding round led by L'Occitane Group's venture arm Obratori. 

WHO: Ma Coiffeuse Afro was launched in 2016 by Rebecca Cathline and Emmanuel Derozin as an app to help Black and mixed-race women in France book stylists for at-home appointments, with content to learn about products suited to their needs. The business expanded into haircare with In Haircare, a range of products co-created with its community.

  • Ma Coiffeuse Afro closed a Series A found of funding. Investors in the round include Obratori, Marie Claire Beauty Ventures, Anne de Kerckhove, and CRE Venture Capital.
  • The brand previously raised a €350K seed round for Ma Coiffeuse Afro from CRE.VC and French business angel Denis Fayolle. 
  • Ma Coiffeuse Afro has 228,000 customers and 194,000 Instagram followers.
