(Monaca, Pa) The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture released an inspection report on Andy’s Barbecue Stand in Monaca from an inspection that took place on December 26th. The inspection states that the stand is out of compliance due to 9 violations.

One violation was that the person in charge in charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety, according to the inspector. The report goes on to say that an employee stated he did not wash his hands in the trailer sink. The trailer hand sink was determined to be dry to the touch and water was not connected.

An employee was also observed cleaning a knife with a dry towel during the inspection. The knife was not washed and sanitized as required by the State, and the facility did not have running hot water of 100 degrees for the 3 bay sink. The inspector also determined the facility did not have water connected to a permanent source after being located in the same spot for 3 years. Hard plumbing is required for supply and discharge for a non-mobile facility.

On the Facebook page for the stand, the business made a post stating that their “really long hose is no longer an acceptable option for getting water down to our trailer”. They also stated that they are “grateful to have had the chance to make work fun outside for so long, and we intend to keep that positive attitude going forward”.

The stand is owned by Bowsers Restaurant.
