TESOL ROME 2009

On Friday, November 21st, Emelie Loeb and Valentina D'Errico traveled down to Rome for the 2009 TESOL Italy conference. They were able to enjoy a variety of different interesting workshops, the highlights being how start reading groups and mapping language learning in the brain. On Saturday afternoon, Emelie spoke at the last workshop of the day on using the FunSongs approach in the ESL classroom. The teacher were surprisingly responsive at this session (after a very full day!).

AMERICAN HALLOWEEN EVENT

On October 31st, from 4:30 to 7:00, thirty two children partecipated in the American Halloween Event organized by the Cultural Association for Interactive Learning. Upon arrival, the children were divided into 5 groups: the Monsters, the Zombies, the Vampires, the Ghouls and the Ghosts. They met with their group leaders and then proceeded to decorate their own personal treat bags.

The groups then began their tour around the neighborhood for trick or treating. After ringing and knocking, receiving sweets and halloween goodies, the children made their way back to the center to visit the Haunted House owned by the green monster. Finally, they sat back to enjoy a FunSongs Halloween show which was followed by a party with more sweets and laughs. CAIL is looking forward to our following cultural events!
