BLC2425M9LS250 linearity? - BLF8G22L-450AV
Hi Dave, The LDMOS bias design is a bit different on this pallet. The "Class AB" device is also biased off with only 1.3v on the gate. This is only biased to the correct value (about 2v) when the RF input exceeds a certain level. There is a shunt FET controlling a 1.7k resistor which is in series with the bias voltage network to the "Class AB" stage. The 1.7k is bypassed when the FET is turned on and this is controlled by 1st stage amplifier. It is a sort of "squelch control" to save power when the amplifier is in a standby state which could be useful for Portable DATV but not for SSB! I will uploaded a PIC showing the various parts of the bias circuit and control line.

BLC2425M9LS250 linearity? 6
Just finished boxing my polish module with a BLF8G22L-450AV and am trying to get to grips with understanding its performance! with 5dBm drive i see +44dBm at 2320 MHz (it peaks at 2318MHz) and +34dBm at 2401MHz however if i back the drive off by 10dB the output drops by 20dB. if i back the drive off 20dB the output drops 40dB. Is this non linearity a "feature" of how doherty devices work? I noticed the 2 gate voltages are different, which I am not used to seeing. Is that normal? what do others see as the gate voltage with no drive? Back to using the IPAM amp for the moment, I understand how that works and its useable on SSB! Dave G4FRE

Nokia PA SMPMAX converter to SMA 4
Should you have Nokia UMTS module here is something that you may like. Mouser has a converter from SMPMAX (that special connector on the palet) to SMA... Mouser No: 538-73386-1560 Currently they are out of stock but seems to be available again in March. 73 de Béla HA4BM

BLC2425M9LS250 Bias Temperature coefficient 2
Hello, I am working on a digital bias compensation for this PA. Did anyone ever record Idq vs Temperature for a given Vgs? Does anyone know the temperature coefficient of this transistor? I cannot find it in the datasheet, probably because it's purpose is for cooking and not DVB signals... Thank you, JS

200 Watt Bison Amplifier 34
I bought this amplifier from Bison Electronics Poland then I removed the circulators which were for 2100MHz. After bypassing the small circulator and fitting semi-rigid to in and out plus power cable, I tested it at 2400Mhz and 32 volt supply and got 190 watts output for 40mW input without any tuning. Supply was 22 amps at 32 volts so not very efficient. I didn't test it for long as my heatsink is too small but it is very linear. The topology is Doherty and draws about 1.5 amps no load. I am very tempted to leave it as it is as that is more than enough power even if it is only 27% efficient. When I get a suitable heatsink I will do more testing. Now fitted to good RS heatsink with fan and fitted in diecast box. It now gives me 200 watts out for 20mW (13dBm) input for 18 amps at 32 volts supply Saturation is at 250 watts for 100mW input and about 30 amps supply! P1dB is about 220 watts at 39dB gain linear gain about 40dB I have plenty of 250 watt amplifiers so I will sell it at the right price.

BLF7G24L-160P 8
hi! has anyone ever built an amplifier with a BLF7G24L-160P? I am looking for information on the BIAS circuit and on the correct quiescent current to obtain the best linearity to use it in DVB-S2 and maybe...also in DVB-T. -- best 73 de i2NDT Claudio

power meter scale linearity 7
I have found that diode type as a big effect on the scale linearity; BAT41 (100v 200mA) gives a nearly linear scale for the 200W range BAT62-02 gives a more log type scale like a Bird power meter and needs a series resistor. I can offer both types of scale now.

Power meter 7
As I have had some interest in a simple low cost 2.4GHz power meter, I have built a prototype which seems to be reasonably accurate (about +/- 5% dependant on the method of producing the scale) . This one uses a coupler about 25dB, a diode detector using a BAT62-02W, a 100k pot and a cheap chinese 50uA meter FSD is 200W (the rating of the coupler) It would be easy to make but the only drawback is that it would need calibration against an accurate meter. I can do that no problem but most people don't have test equipment. I will make a few more prototypes over the next couple of months and see what the repeatability is like and then I might offer some for sale. This one is crude and made with bits out of the junk box and is a single range. I may look at dual range meters. To measure return loss , you merely turn it round and calculate from the different readings. Cost of parts including a box is around £35 so if anyone builds one and wants it calibrating , then just send it to me! I reckon my test gear is accurate to a couple of percent.
