If any agency knows how to collaborate for the greater good, it’s CDR, and the two First Steps Child Care and Development Centers are examples of collaboration at its best. Located at the Griffin-Yeates Center in York County and at Lafayette High School, First Steps centers offer high-quality, affordable child care for low-income working families in the greater Williamsburg area. There, very young children play, grow, and learn in cheerful, stimulating classrooms with no more than eight other children and at least two highly qualified, caring teachers.

The programs encourage children to be curious and creative as they learn about the world around them. Both centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and have been rated 4 stars by Virginia’s Star Quality Initiative, which is their highest quality rating.

What does First Steps offer?
The teachers and teacher assistants at each First Steps center have extensive experience in child development and are attentive to the needs of each infant and toddler.
